East Town
A neighborhood in Milwaukee
East Town sits between the Milwaukee River and the shore of Lake Michigan, packing a range of live-music formats into its downtown blocks. The anchor for outdoor music is Cathedral Square Park, home to Jazz in the Park, a free summer concert series, and Bastille Days, one of Milwaukee's largest French festivals with food and music each July. Jazz in the Park runs on Thursday evenings at Cathedral Square Park. Inside, Blu sits on the 23rd floor of the Pfister Hotel, offering panoramic views of downtown and Lake Michigan, with live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The bar is listed as a jazz venue on regional jazz directories. Bodega Nightclub & Lounge, opened in 2022 at 628 N. Water St., is a nightclub and lounge with a Latin-inspired identity. The 4,500-square-foot space holds up to 240 guests and uses concert-grade lighting and sound for performances by DJs and live performers. Saint Kate The Arts Hotel on E. Kilbourn Ave. also figures into the neighborhood's music calendar through its in-house bar. The remaining venues, including Red Rock Saloon, The Harp Irish Pub, Tropic on Water, and The Conroy, round out a scene that spans jazz outdoors to Latin nightclub programming under one walkable downtown footprint.
