Lakefront

A neighborhood in Milwaukee

Milwaukee's Lakefront music scene is anchored almost entirely by Henry Maier Festival Park, where two outdoor amphitheaters run back-to-back shows from May through October. The American Family Insurance Amphitheater (formerly the Marcus Amphitheater) sits on the south end of the park and serves as the headliner stage for Summerfest. It recently underwent a $51.3 million renovation, adding a new seating bowl configuration, raised stage, and expanded concourses. It holds 23,000, making it one of the largest outdoor venues in Wisconsin. 2026 headliners include Post Malone and Ed Sheeran. The BMO Pavilion, completed in 2012 and designed with a wave-like roof, holds up to 10,000 people, with 5,000 permanent seats offering protection from the elements. It has featured artists across classic rock, country, hip-hop, and alternative. During Summerfest, the BMO Pavilion offers both reserved seats and free general admission on a first-come, first-served basis. Outside of Summerfest, Milwaukee World Festival and FPC Live book standalone concerts at both venues from May through October. The Lakefront is a seasonal destination rather than a year-round neighborhood music scene, but during summer it draws the city's largest concert crowds.
