The Historic Third Ward is Milwaukee's arts and entertainment anchor, and its live-music offerings run from formal stages to open-air squares. The Broadway Theatre Center, operated by Skylight Music Theatre, is home to three performing theatre companies. It houses two theaters: the 358-seat Cabot Theatre, a replication of an 18th-century European opera house, and the 90-seat Studio Theatre, a versatile black box space. Skylight Music Theatre presents the full spectrum of music theatre, from opera to Broadway musicals and everything in between. Outdoors, the Third Ward Beer Garden at Catalano Square offers beer, wine, and cocktails Wednesday through Sunday, with live music from local musicians Thursday through Saturday and select Sundays. The Riverwalk Commons Concert Series brings free live music to the neighborhood, with local bands, food trucks, and drinks every other Tuesday through summer. Gibraltar MKE and The Outsider both rank among the area's top bars for live music. Camp Bar Third Ward models itself after a cozy up-north cabin and frequently hosts live music and themed nights. The range across the Ward spans polished musical theatre, free outdoor concerts, and bar-floor performances on the same walkable stretch.
