Lower East Side

Milwaukee's Lower East Side sits north of downtown, bounded by the Milwaukee River to the west, Lake Michigan to the east, North Avenue to the north, and State Street to the south. The neighborhood has nearly five times more cafes and nearly three times more bars than the rest of Milwaukee, and its music venues reflect that density. Brady Street, which took hold as a hippie enclave during the 1960s, retains some counter-culture character even as money has rolled in. County Clare Irish Inn & Pub on N. Astor Street is the neighborhood's Irish anchor. The pub draws visitors for live, traditional Irish music, and hosts traditional live Irish sessions on Friday evenings. Juneau Beer Garden, run by Milwaukee County Parks inside scenic Juneau Park overlooking Lake Michigan, is a warm-season operation open May through September. One of its biggest draws is a free live music lineup under the Third Space Brewing tent, with music running 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on select evenings throughout the summer. No independently verifiable detail was found for Nashville North, Nomad World Pub, The Deep Groove, The Garage, or Thurman's 15.
