Blackstone District
The Blackstone District runs along Farnam Street between 36th and 42nd Streets and is one of Omaha's older revitalized neighborhoods. It is a historic district extending from 36th Street to 42nd Street along Farnam Street. Live music is woven into the district's regular programming: the neighborhood hosts live music and events on the 2nd Saturday of every month, and a Night Market brings local vendors, live music, and food trucks to Blackstone Alley, the parking lot behind Scriptown Brewing off Farnam Street. The dedicated music venue here is Red Lion Lounge. It is a retro jazz lounge that first opened in 1957 and quickly became Omaha's go-to jazz club until 1962. Now revived, it brings the same vintage character, and includes a speakeasy space called The Lion's Den for smaller gatherings. Live jazz runs Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with local musicians performing regularly. There is no cover charge.
