Dundee
Dundee, Omaha's first suburb, sits just west of Saddle Creek. Its live-music profile is small but distinct, built around two very different rooms a few blocks apart. The Dundee Dell at 5007 Underwood Ave is Omaha's oldest restaurant, with over 100 years of history, known for its fish and chips and one of the largest single-malt Scotch collections in the United States. On the music side, the Dell runs a live jazz quintet on Thursday nights at 7:00, featuring a grand piano, with no cover charge. The Jenkins/Kilgore Jazz Quintet anchors those evenings, led by pianist and Denver Professor of Jazz Studies Jeff Jenkins, alongside trumpeter Chuck Kilgore, tenor saxophone, percussion, and acoustic bass, playing contemporary and classic jazz. Pageturners Lounge at 5004 Dodge St is a neighborhood bar and music venue operating out of a former bookstore. Co-owned by Conor Oberst, it features a sunken bar and cozy snug. The room holds around 100 and is 21+. Live music can be held any night of the week, across a wide range of genres. Beyond the two venues, the Dundee Merchants bring local musicians to the corner of 50th and Underwood on the third Saturday of each month from April through October.
