Gold Coast

Gold Coast developed from the 1880s onward as home to Omaha's wealthiest families, and the neighborhood holds several nationally significant landmarks, including Joslyn Castle. Live music in the area runs almost entirely through that one address. Joslyn Castle & Gardens uses three spaces for programming: the Castle itself, the Carriage House, and the gardens. The FolkHouse Concerts at the Castle series brings local folk and Americana acts to the intimate Carriage House. The dedicated Music Room inside the Castle hosts the First Tuesdays series, a partnership with the Omaha Conservatory of Music featuring duets, string quartets, and ragtime piano. On summer first Tuesdays, the garden grounds host a free community picnic series with live music and food trucks. The Carriage House also pulls in other genres: Club Noir has staged an all-ages dance party there, with DJs spinning industrial, goth, and synth. Gold Coast is a quiet residential district with one anchor venue, but that venue covers a genuine range of formats and sounds.
