Florence
Florence is a north-end Omaha neighborhood whose live-music footprint is slim. Its one listed venue, Florence Mill and the Winter Quarters Mill Museum, was founded in 1846 as the Mormon Winter Quarters gristmill and now also houses an Art-Loft Gallery and a summer Farmers Market. The mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been designated a Nebraska State Historic Site. Music turns up as part of that seasonal market context: on Sundays through September, the over-150-year-old mill hosts an old-fashioned market where local baked goods, arts, crafts, music, and visiting animals can be found. The space can accommodate up to 200 for a standing reception, giving it some capacity for live performance, though its primary identity is historical and agricultural rather than a regular music destination. Visitors looking for dedicated live-music programming will generally need to head elsewhere in Omaha.
