Munhall

Just a few miles from downtown Pittsburgh, Munhall's live-music identity centers almost entirely on the Carnegie Library Music Hall. Built in 1898, the building houses a 1,047-seat concert hall alongside a library and athletic club. It is a refurbished turn-of-the-century hall that allows for intimate interaction between performers and the audience, and over the summer of 2024, the old seats were replaced with new, more comfortable ones. The hall books a wide range of genres, with past acts including Robert Earl Keen, Ben Folds, Gino Vannelli, and Melissa Etheridge. In 2019 alone, 50,000 patrons came from across Western Pennsylvania and the country to see nationally known entertainers such as Dave Chappelle, Sturgill Simpson, and Boz Scaggs. Beyond music, the hall also programs comedy shows and other live entertainment. For every 50 shows held, the Carnegie brings over $1,000,000 in revenue to the nearby Waterfront and Eighth Avenue business districts.
