The District

The District is a downtown neighborhood along the Mississippi River in Rock Island, Illinois that has built its identity around arts and live entertainment. The area offers live music, a brew pub, sports bars, and neighborhood pubs, all within walking distance of one another. Rock Island Brewing Company (RIBCO) has roots dating to the late 1800s and became a live music destination in the early 1980s, gaining recognition for live music and craft brew. Under new ownership in 2025, RIBCO upgraded its production and curates lineups that span emerging artists and regional acts. Recent bookings have included rock, punk, Americana, blues, and country. The Circa '21 Speakeasy is a multi-use facility with a full stage, professional lighting and sound, and seating for around 130. It programs adult comedy, improv, big band concerts, drag shows, and is home to the longest-running burlesque troupe in the Quad Cities. Rozz-Tox is a café known for its live performances from DJs and local bands. Schwiebert Riverfront Park features an outdoor concert area where free concerts take place during the summer months. In the summer, free live music draws crowds to the riverfront at Thursday Night Groove.
