Bevo Mill

A neighborhood in St. Louis

Bevo Mill is a South St. Louis neighborhood anchored by the landmark 1917 Busch windmill on Gravois Avenue, and its live-music options reflect the corridor's mix of dive-bar grit and revived neighborhood character. The Heavy Anchor, at 5226 Gravois Ave, is a 21+ South City dive bar and music-and-comedy venue with a capacity of about 120 people. Shows run Wednesday through Saturday nights, and the venue books a wide range of genres, with past acts including Hospital Job, The Timmys, and The Cuban Missiles. The bar side carries no cover charge, while the venue side requires one, and the room also hosts comedy and open mic nights alongside local beer and seasonal cocktails. A few blocks south, Tim's Chrome Bar at 4736 Gravois Ave reopened in 2023 after an extensive renovation, bringing new life to a bar that has been a Bevo Mill fixture since 1977. It sits directly across from Das Bevo and operates as a cocktail lounge. A stage at the front of the venue anchors a regular calendar of live music, comedy, and bingo sessions.
