Lemay
A city in the St. Louis area
Lemay is an unincorporated community in St. Louis County, about 15 minutes south of downtown St. Louis via Interstate 55. Its one dedicated live-music spot is Judy's Velvet Lounge, located inside River City Casino in Lemay. The "velvet lounge" part of the name is no understatement: lush, colorful fabric covers everything from the ceiling to the bar, and the room sits inside the casino itself. The throwback 1920s-style lounge offers free live entertainment every Friday and Saturday night. Past performers on the oversized stage have included St. Louis favorites the Well Hungarians and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, along with various DJs. Casino Player Magazine named Judy's Velvet Lounge "Best Lounge" in both 2015 and 2016. The setting is more cabaret than bar, making it a distinctly different live-music experience from anything in nearby south city neighborhoods.
