The Grove
A neighborhood in St. Louis
The Grove runs along Manchester Avenue between Kingshighway and Vandeventer in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood, and it is home to premier nightlife and a center for the LGBTQ, artist, and cycling communities in the St. Louis area. The neighborhood's largest live-music anchor is Atomic By Jamo at 4140 Manchester, a multi-room complex with three distinct spaces: the Atomic Pavilion, Atomic, and the intimate indoor Atomic Lounge. The outdoor Pavilion can host up to 2,000 guests, while the Lounge runs free live music every week Thursday through Sunday. Artists like Billy Strings and Goose played the space early in their careers. The Gramophone books a stylistically diverse mix of music, from hip-hop to Delta blues. It started as an intimate concert club in The Grove. HandleBar is a female immigrant-owned, bicycle-themed bar and nightclub in The Grove, established in 2010. Its calendar runs DJs, drag shows, comedy, karaoke, and live musicians nearly every day of the week. Platypus and WORDUP! Open Mic round out the five music spots on the strip, though specific booking details for those two were not confirmed in available sources.
