East Toledo
East Toledo holds some of the Toledo area's most historically significant live-music addresses. Frankie's Inner City, established in 1945, bills itself as Toledo's original home for live music. The venue reopened in July 2023 after closing in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The often cramped club with the tiny stage feet from the crowd has hosted rock luminaries such as the Smashing Pumpkins, X, and the Black Keys. Frankie's hosts music of all genres, with both bands and patrons frequently travelling from out of town. On the riverfront, Docks 419 at The Bay, at 18 Main St., runs live DJ sets every Friday and Saturday and includes a stage, two bars, and a VIP lounge along the Maumee River. Hollywood Casino Toledo, on Miami St., also figures in the neighborhood's live-music mix. Papa's Tavern rounds out the local options for a night out on the east side.
