Vistula

Vistula is Toledo's oldest neighborhood, situated along the Maumee River just north of downtown. After years of dormant commercial life, things have taken a turn with rebuilding in the area. The music scene here reflects that momentum. Lucille's Jazz Lounge operates inside TolHouse in the Historic Vistula District and is the neighborhood's anchor for after-dark listening. It's a cozy room with clean sight lines and good sound, featuring jazz, blues, and Latin acts. Shows are intimate, drawing national and local acts into a space that holds 80 people. Lucille's does not accept door sales; all tickets must be purchased in advance. A weekly Tuesday residency, Sessions, features Gene Parker and Damen Cook with a special guest each week. Ostrich Towne is a lifestyle center that Toledo Metropolitan Development invested some $17 million into, with the aim of revitalizing the neighborhood. It sits on the edge of downtown, on the river, in the Vistula District, and hosts live music events in its alley space, including seasonal markets where Riverside Barbeque Company is among the food and drink vendors on site.
