Excelsior

318 Cafe operates out of a 100-plus-year-old building on Water Street in Excelsior, a small lakeside town on Lake Minnetonka about 20 miles southwest of Minneapolis. A cafe and coffeehouse by day, it becomes a live-music listening room by night. The room hosts live music every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, and sometimes on Wednesday and Sunday nights as well. Doors open at 6 p.m. and shows start at 8 p.m. The venue holds 61 people. The booking leans toward acoustic, folk, and singer-songwriter acts, with a strong Twin Cities roster. Past performers have included Dan Wilson, Chastity Brown, members of Soul Asylum, almost all of The Jayhawks, Tina Schlieske, Adam Levy, and Michael Monroe, among many other local and national musicians. The cafe pairs its music with bistro fare, craft coffee, and a beer and wine list. Beyond 318 Cafe, Excelsior also hosts a free outdoor summer concert series in Excelsior Commons.
