Lynnhurst
A neighborhood in Minneapolis
Lynnhurst sits in southwest Minneapolis along the southeastern shore of Lake Harriet. It is a quiet, predominantly residential neighborhood, and its live-music identity is almost entirely tied to one venue: the Lake Harriet Bandshell. Operated by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the Bandshell is scheduled to host 95 concerts in summer 2026, part of a citywide program featuring 208 free outdoor concerts at eight park venues between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Concerts run Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday shows at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. All performances are free. The booking ranges widely across genres, with big band, blues rock, ska, Americana, soul/funk, steel drum, rock, and orchestral acts all appearing on a typical season's calendar. The Minneapolis Pops Orchestra has performed at the Bandshell since 1950, now with over 76 seasons of free performances. The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra also uses the venue. Outside of the Bandshell's summer season, Lynnhurst has no dedicated live-music bars or clubs.
