A neighborhood in Minneapolis
Driftwood Char Bar, on Nicollet Avenue, books a mix of local and national singer/songwriters alongside blues, funk, rock, and punk. The bar runs live music six nights a week, Tuesday through Sunday, with Sundays and Tuesdays reserved for regular performers. It operates as a juke joint offering music, food, and drink seven days a week. Mspl.St.Paul Magazine describes it as "the ultimate hole-in-the-wall joint where people come to relax, have a drink and enjoy one another's company." Beyond the bar, Kingfield's live-music culture spills into its streets each June. The neighborhood's annual PorchFest sees more than three dozen homes host bands performing on patios and in front yards. PorchFest draws 50+ bands, and Kingfield is also home to two record shops, The Record Spot and Roadrunner Records. The neighborhood is primarily residential, so Driftwood Char Bar carries most of the regular, year-round live-music load for the area.
