Maple Plain

A city in the Minneapolis & St. Paul area

Maple Plain's live-music scene runs almost entirely through one address: Iron Exchange Tavern & Brewery, founded in 2019 with the intention of bringing good music to the western suburbs. The brewpub doubles as a live-music venue, pairing Detroit-style pizza and Midwest comfort food with house-made craft beer. It also offers an elevated cocktail program and a vast whisky selection, and books live music at least three nights a week. Friday and Saturday sets run from 7:30 to 10 PM. The room includes space for dancing as well as a dedicated stage. The booking mix leans toward blues, Americana, and rock-leaning solo performers and small bands. Past acts include Jimmi and the Band of Souls, an award-winning Minnesota blues outfit that plays boogie-woogie, slow blues, and hard-driving grooves. Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame and Rock & Country Hall of Fame inductee PK Mayo has also appeared on the stage. For a small exurban town, Iron Exchange punches above its weight as a consistent, year-round live-music room.
