Richfield
A city in the Minneapolis & St. Paul area
Richfield's live-music footprint is modest, centering on a single dedicated performance space and a city-run outdoor series rather than a bar or club circuit. Illusion Theater's free summer series, "LIVE at Lyndale Gardens," anchors the scene. It runs on Wednesday evenings in July and August at the Amphitheater at Lyndale Gardens, 6400 Lyndale Avenue South, generously sponsored by The Cornerstone Group. The amphitheater is not visible from Lyndale Avenue but sits behind the Lakewinds Co-op on the shores of Richfield Lake. It is built around a metallic roof that shelters the performance area, with a flight of steps serving as the only seating. Admission is free, seating is first-come first-served, and no reservations are required. The programming ranges widely. Recent lineups have included Twin Cities vocalist Prudence Johnson alongside Latin-jazz trio Beat Zero. The series has also featured a cappella improvisation from Black women artists. Americana trio Honeywine and Afro-Caribbean band Malamanya have both appeared. Richfield also maintains a weekly music series at the Veterans Park Band Shell.
