Summit Hill
A neighborhood in St. Paul
The Lexington sits at the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue and is Summit Hill's one dedicated music spot. It opened in 1935, after the end of Prohibition, as a neighborhood bar. Today it programs live jazz on Friday and Saturday nights from 7 to 10 PM, with a separate Williamsburg Room where diners sit close to the pianist for a $5-per-person surcharge. The music can run loud on weekend nights. Beyond The Lexington, Summit Hill's live-music life is mostly seasonal: the Grand Avenue Business Association's annual Grand Old Day festival, running since 1973, brings live music to the street each summer. A neighborhood porch-concert series has also drawn regular crowds of 100 or more. The neighborhood is otherwise quiet, making The Lexington the reliable anchor for anyone seeking music here on a given weekend night.
