West Seventh
A neighborhood in St. Paul
West Seventh is the oldest commercial corridor in Minnesota and its live-music options range from a nearly century-old supper club to a backyard under an oak tree. Mancini's Char House started as a small tavern on West Seventh in 1948 and grew into a supper club that has drawn local families, lawmakers, and sports figures for decades. The atmosphere echoes a Rat Pack-era feel, with live music in the lounge and steaks cooked over open-hearth grills. Music runs 7:30–10:30 p.m. with no cover charge. Grand Oak Opry is a backyard concert series hosted in the West Seventh neighborhood, centered on a centuries-old oak tree, and is considered a standard-setter for Twin Cities backyard concerts. Running since 2014, the series passes a $15 suggested donation directly to performing artists, with a preference for local acts. Shows run on a couple of Saturdays each month from June through September. The White Squirrel Bar, open since June 2021, serves craft cocktails alongside $5 cans of Budweiser and hosts live music and food trucks. Waldmann Brewery has been serving lager-inspired brews on the street since 1857.
