Des Plaines

A suburb in the Chicago area

Des Plaines Theatre is a roughly 900-capacity concert hall that anchors the suburb's live-music calendar. It books a wide range of genres, with past performers including Everclear, Sebastian Bach, and Judy Collins, and current bookings including Steel Panther and Get The Led Out. Inside the building, a second-floor Speakeasy offers jazz, blues, and indie nights in a more intimate setting, with no cover charge for many of its shows. The Event Center at Rivers Casino Des Plaines also runs a regular concert calendar, adding a casino-floor live-music option to the suburb's mix. Miner Street Tavern, at 1492 Miner St., is a neighborhood bar that doubles as an intimate live-event hub, with a rotating calendar leaning toward local acoustic artists, blues and rock trios, open mics, and stand-up comedy. It bills itself as the only bar in downtown Des Plaines. The Des Plaines Park District adds outdoor options through its summer Live at the Lake Concert Series, which runs June through August with free shows spanning rock, country, pop, jazz, and tribute acts.
