Edgewater's bars and commercial spots concentrate along Broadway near the Red Line stops at Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, and Granville. The live-music calendar runs quieter on most nights than in denser Chicago nightlife districts, but the neighborhood has a clear identity around community-scale music. The annual Edgewater Music Fest, a three-day street event on Broadway between Thorndale and Ardmore, draws more than 30 live performances across two stages. The 2026 edition features headliners Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, NNAMDï, Maps & Atlases, Mucca Pazza, Lowdown Brass Band, and North By North. Admission is free, with a $10 suggested donation. Berger Park Cultural Center hosts concerts and other performance events through the year, on the lakefront overlooking Lake Michigan, owned and operated by the Chicago Park District. Barrelman Tavern draws regulars with a soundtrack that leans country and rotating local and national craft beers alongside a whiskey focus. The Granville Anvil operates as a gay bar on Granville. Most other bars in the neighborhood function as neighborhood drinking spots rather than dedicated live-music rooms.
