North Center
North Center's live-music footprint is modest but anchored by one of the North Side's most respected small rooms. Martyrs', open since 1995 on Lincoln Avenue, has drawn acclaimed acts across genres, with past performers including Gov't Mule, Beck, Jack Johnson, and the Pretenders. The room books a wide range of genres and a mix of established and up-and-coming artists, with a floor big enough for dancing and a bar serving pizza. Burning Bush Brewery, a family-owned taproom in the neighborhood, pours from 12 rotating taps and hosts a Live Music First Friday series on the first Friday of every month. Reclaimed Bar and Restaurant rounds out the neighborhood's live-music options as a bar-and-dining spot with regular music. Venues here tend toward the casual end, running the range from pubs with small weekly gigs to a club that books nationally known artists.
