Kenwood
A neighborhood in Chicago
Norman's Bistro is described as "the scene of Kenwood," an upscale restaurant on E. 43rd Street where live music is a regular part of the draw. The kitchen specializes in American Creole cooking, most noted for lobster shrimp and chicken gumbo and lamb chops. Live entertainment runs on Sunday evenings, with Sunday jazz sessions in the bar featuring saxophonist Ernest Dawkins. Guests have reported listening to a standing jazz band over dinner, with the bar staying open and jazz continuing until midnight after the kitchen closes. Beyond Norman's, Kenwood is a largely residential neighborhood whose residents frequent dive bars and pubs, many of which sit just on the edge of Kenwood and Hyde Park. The neighborhood's live-music footprint is small, making Norman's Bistro the clearest dedicated music stop on this side of 43rd Street.
