Washington Park

A neighborhood in Chicago

Washington Park developed into a storied South Side community during the Great Migration, and its Garfield Boulevard corridor once packed in clubs and live bands, though the buildings that housed those rooms are long gone. Today the neighborhood's arts activity runs through the Arts Block along Garfield Boulevard, anchored by the Arts Incubator with its studios, gallery, and community spaces. For live music now, the one dedicated room is The Park Bar & Grill on E Garfield Blvd. Eater has described it as "a South Side supper club pairing dinner, specialty cocktails, and live music" with an atmosphere rooted in jazz and community programming, and it is a Black-owned business. The venue markets itself as an elegant supper club with a full cocktail bar, and guests can expect contemporary American food and a lively, intimate feel. Doors are open Thursday through Sunday, with Sunday brunch running until mid-afternoon.
