Lincoln Park
Lincoln Park's live-music venues cluster within a few blocks of each other near Halsted Street. The neighborhood's cornerstone is Kingston Mines. Founded in 1968, it is the largest and oldest continuously operating blues club in Chicago, with two stages packed with non-stop blues seven nights a week, two headline acts alternating so that one band begins as the other finishes, keeping music continuous into the early morning. The stages have been graced by Magic Slim, Koko Taylor, Sugar Blue, Billy Branch, and Junior Wells, and regulars like Joanna Connor still hold long-running residencies there. Lincoln Hall is a modern, mid-sized venue run by the team behind Schubas. The building cycled through lives as a theater, auto garage, and cinema before becoming a music venue in 2009. It seats 507 and is known for excellent sound, booking indie, rock, and folk. The space routinely books up-and-coming local talent alongside touring national acts. Delilah's rounds out the bar-with-music end of the spectrum, a punk-rock dive bar stocking over 750 types of whiskey. The neighborhood also holds larger and outdoor options, including Park West, Joe's Bar on Weed St., Theatre on the Lake, and the Lincoln Park Zoo, giving the area one of the broader live-music ranges on Chicago's north side.
