Goodrich-Kirtland Park
Goodrich-Kirtland Park sits about 2 miles east of downtown Cleveland, and its largely industrial layout of turn-of-the-century brick warehouses has been converting into arts venues and studios. That shift is evident in its live-music spots. Crobar occupies the former Croatian Tavern space at 3244 St. Clair and books local and regional shows. Owner Gerard Guhde used a shoestring budget and a fresh coat of paint to turn the old dive bar into a music club, and the venue bills itself as a "Five Star Dive Bar + Music Hall," with shows running Thursday through Saturday nights. It occasionally hosts specialty events like dance battles and soul train experiences. From the start, Guhde framed the space as a safe haven for the underground community and a blank canvas for Cleveland creatives, including the queer and trans community. A few blocks away, The Bird's Nest is run by DJ and event producer Brian "Blackbird" Conti, who has been in the electronic music scene since the raves of the 1990s and hosts electronic music artists from Ohio and beyond. It runs late into the night, with a curated DJ lineup playing to crowds that find the space largely by word of mouth. Vice Night Club also operates in the neighborhood; no additional detail was verifiable at time of writing.
