University Circle
University Circle is the most concentrated square mile of arts and culture in the nation, and its live-music offerings reflect that density. The anchor is Severance Music Center, home of the Cleveland Orchestra since its opening on February 5, 1931. The Orchestra performs most of its regular season concerts in the main hall. Inside the Cleveland Museum of Art, Gartner Auditorium is the only concert hall ever designed by architect Marcel Breuer, accommodating up to 683 guests. It hosts concerts across a wide range of genres, having welcomed artists such as Tigran Hamasyan, Tarta Relena, and Eliades Ochoa. Upcoming bookings include jazz, chamber music, and solo cello recitals. Wade Oval Wednesdays runs June through August, offering free live music in the neighborhood. The Agora Theatre and Ballroom sits just outside the neighborhood core on Euclid Avenue. It holds 2,000 and books rock. Both Billboard Magazine and the editor of Rolling Stone have named it the number one rock club in the country. Artists like Bruce Springsteen, Meat Loaf, and Alice Cooper have repeatedly played its stage. Specific details on Maltz Performing Arts Center and The Jolly Scholar were not available in search results.
