Val Air Ballroom is the area's biggest draw, pulling in touring acts across rock, roots, and pop. Recent bookings have included Gary Clark Jr., Bowling for Soup, Minus the Bear, and Aly & AJ. It gives West Des Moines a mid-size concert anchor that most suburbs lack. The neighborhood bar end of the spectrum runs through two spots. Bevy's Tavern, open since 2023, is a family-owned sports bar that frequently hosts live music events. Fridays are a regular music night, and the room doubles as a casual dining stop with extended weekend hours. The Regal Beagle offers live music, trivia, and a relaxed atmosphere. Friday night karaoke draws a crowd, and the energy tends to be communal, with most people singing along whether they planned to or not. The bar has also hosted local acts like the Rock Bottom String Band, keeping the programming close to home.
