Cass Corridor

Cass Corridor built its music reputation the hard way, carrying a historically rough identity centered on Cass Avenue just north of Detroit's urban core. That history left behind a cluster of venues that range from dive-bar stages to one of the city's largest concert halls. The Old Miami, a Cass Corridor institution opened by a Vietnam vet, has hosted acts like Iggy Pop and The White Stripes and remains a popular after-party stop during Movement festival. It is a reliable mid-week stop for unsigned local acts. War memorabilia and old photographs cover the walls, and out back there is a stage area, a pond, and a campfire space. At the other end of the scale, the Masonic Jack White Theatre books a wide range of genres, having previously welcomed Bob Dylan and Moonchild alongside newer touring acts like The Last Dinner Party and Max Richter. The larger Masonic Temple complex sits at 500 Temple Street and holds multiple performing spaces. Jack White brought his Third Man Records back home to the Cass Corridor and added a stage, making it one of the few record-store venues in the city for all-ages shows. Roar Brewing Co., at 666 Selden Street, is Detroit's first Black-owned brewery, opened in March 2025 by Air Force veteran Evan Fay. Live music, karaoke, brewery tours, and sports watch parties are all part of the programming.
