North Corktown

A neighborhood in Detroit

North Corktown is a quieter counterpart to the growing Michigan Ave. business district, and its live-music story is essentially one bar: Nancy Whiskey Pub. The oldest Irish bar in Detroit claims North Corktown as its home. Established in 1902, Nancy Whiskey offers a full dining menu with its selection of drinks, and patrons can enjoy live music on the patio during warmer months. They host live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Detroit Metro Times has called it "the best kept secret in Detroit for blues," and it's a turn-of-the-century Irish tavern with one of the best jukeboxes in town. The venue has a capacity of 65 and a well-worn, dive-bar feel. Along with its famous Fish Fry each Friday and Whiskey Wednesday specials, Nancy's menu includes burgers and sandwiches. It was included in a round-up of America's Most Authentic Dive Bars. For live music in North Corktown, Nancy Whiskey is the neighborhood.
