Downtown
Downtown Fort Wayne carries the bulk of the city's more formal and nonprofit live-music infrastructure. Arts United Center is a 660-seat performing arts theatre designed by architect Louis Kahn, and serves as the performing home of the Fort Wayne Ballet and Fort Wayne Civic Theatre. Baker Street Centre, formerly C2G Music Hall, is a nonprofit venue that books music of all types, describing its mission as promoting "good, real, music." Visiting artists have called it the best stage in Northern Indiana, citing state-of-the-art sound, lighting, and video. Club Soda is a restaurant that features jazz performed by local talent, with live music running Monday through Saturday in the evenings. Promenade Park is one of downtown's scenic outdoor concert spaces, complete with lawn, swings, and water features. On select Sunday afternoons, Promenade Park hosts additional live music series. The Embassy Theatre, Fort Wayne Philharmonic Center, Grand Summit Hall, and J K O'Donnell's round out a downtown that leans toward produced concerts and formal performance as much as nightlife.
