Downtown East Lansing
Downtown East Lansing's bar strip, anchored near Michigan State University, draws a mostly college-town crowd and has a handful of dedicated live-music spots running most nights of the week. Dublin Square is an Irish pub and restaurant on Abbot Road with a hand-carved mahogany bar, live music, and a wide selection of beers on tap. Weekends typically bring a cover band up front and a DJ in the back room. Harper's Restaurant & Brew Pub, founded in 1997, was built from the start as a brewpub and music venue. It is the only microbrewery in East Lansing. Live music runs Wednesday through Saturday. The pub features a sizable dance floor and stays open late every night, drawing a college crowd. Mash Bar is one of the newer downtown venues credited with helping live music in East Lansing rebound after the COVID pandemic. It brought something genuinely useful to the block: an actual stage inside the bar. The Riv rounds out the strip and is listed among the area's top bars for live music.
