Eastside
Lansing's Eastside runs along E Michigan Avenue and E Kalamazoo Street and holds a tight cluster of bars where live music is a regular part of the week rather than an occasional event. Mac's Bar, at 2700 E Michigan Ave, is a long-running live music venue and dive bar that draws local acts and touring outfits. Programming spans metal, hip-hop, and indie shows, alongside a long-standing Monday night comedy lineup. The venue is frequently praised for its sound team, making it a reliable stop for small touring acts and local talent alike. Moriarty's Pub, established in 1979, is a traditional Irish-American pub that runs live jazz on Tuesdays, open mic nights on Wednesdays, DJ trivia on Thursdays, and live music on weekends. Live music most nights of the week comes with no cover charge. Tuesday jazz sessions draw both established musicians and MSU jazz students, with jam sessions following the main set. Art's Pub, at 809 E Kalamazoo St, is a sports bar that also frequently hosts live music events. The Avenue Cafe and The Green Door round out the neighborhood's music spots.
