Council Bluffs
Council Bluffs punches well above its size for live music, anchored by two casino venues on opposite ends of the scale. Stir Cove is an outdoor amphitheater adjacent to Harrah's Casino and is ranked #68 on Pollstar's Top 100 Amphitheaters worldwide, drawing national touring acts all summer. The Mid-America Center hosts larger arena shows, with acts like Breaking Benjamin on its calendar. Whiskey Roadhouse, inside Horseshoe Council Bluffs Casino, books touring rock and country acts such as Rise Against and Alkaline Trio. On the performing-arts side, the Arts Center at Iowa Western has a 650-seat Main Stage Theater and a Black Box Theater for up to 120 guests; established in 2001, it runs a National Performance Series and a Youth Performance Series with professional touring performers each season. The Dock Bar and Grill hosts live music on its outdoor Bandsville Stage. Ditmars Orchard and Vineyard mixes seasonal live music into its orchard and vineyard setting, with a dedicated winter acoustic series called Orchard Unplugged featuring local musicians. The B-Side Bar rounds out the picture as a smaller, intimate room. Sugars Lounge and Diner also appears on the local circuit.
