South Omaha
South Omaha's live-music identity is rooted in its multi-ethnic heritage. Polish and Czech festivals bring live polka music, while Mexican celebrations feature mariachis and folk dancing, setting a cultural tone that runs through the neighborhood's event calendar year-round. The area's anchor concert venue is The Admiral Theater. Originally built in 1926 as Sokol Auditorium to serve Omaha's Czech community, it underwent major renovations in 2021 and was rebranded as The Admiral in 2022. It is now known for rock and country music performances and holds up to 1,500. By the 1990s, the venue's basement had already begun hosting indie rock bands, giving it a long pre-renovation music history. The venue is operated by One Percent Productions and runs a steady calendar of national touring acts. Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, just south of The Admiral, folds live music into several seasonal events. Its Croctoberfest is a 21-plus after-hours event featuring live music, food trucks, and a special seasonal brew.
