Downtown South Bend
Downtown South Bend anchors the area's live-music calendar with a range of rooms, from a century-old theater to a New Orleans-style cafe. The Morris Performing Arts Center, built in 1922 and originally called the Palace Theatre, has hosted performers from Bing Crosby to Elvis Presley, and continues to draw national touring acts year-round. Fiddler's Hearth on N. Main Street runs live Irish music Monday through Saturday, with open Irish music sessions on Mondays and open mic nights on Wednesdays. Chicory Cafe, a New Orleans-inspired spot in the heart of downtown, books acoustic, blues, and jazz acts, with live music on Fridays and Sundays and occasional Thursday and Saturday shows. The cafe also runs an open mic night on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Century Center is a large complex in the heart of South Bend with flexible event spaces, two theaters, and a convention hall that periodically hosts concerts.
