River Park
River Park is a residential neighborhood along the St. Joseph River, and its two music spots could hardly be more different from each other. The IU South Bend Campus Auditorium seats 800 and anchors a program of more than 75 music and theater productions per year, all open to the public. A 224-seat recital hall, renovated in 2015, hosts soloists and small ensembles with national and global reputations. The campus has welcomed acts such as the IU Latin Jazz Ensemble, and the auditorium's calendar runs from classical and jazz to theater productions. The Well Coffee House is a volunteer-run nonprofit, also in River Park, operating at a very different scale. With a capacity of around 100, it runs a coffeehouse space upstairs for acoustic and softer shows and a basement for louder and heavier acts. It is all-ages, non-profit, and all shows are donation-based. Genres booked range from folk and singer-songwriter to punk, metal, hardcore, and hip-hop.
