North Loop

The North Loop, also known as the Warehouse District, is a historic area just northwest of downtown Minneapolis where old warehouses and industrial buildings have been converted into lofts, offices, shops, and restaurants. That same conversion logic runs through the live-music side of the neighborhood, which now covers everything from a 50,000-seat ballpark to intimate bar stages. The Fillmore Minneapolis, a Live Nation venue, opened in 2020. It holds 1,850 total seats, with a reserved balcony surrounding a general-admission floor. Inspired by the historic Fillmore in San Francisco, the room pays tribute to local music culture with a large Prince mural and posters of Minneapolis artists including Lizzo, Atmosphere, Bob Dylan, and the Replacements. Its upstairs BG's Lounge, with a capacity of around 200, functions as a smaller stage for developing local talent, meant as a stepping stone toward the main room and larger venues. Fine Line opened as a music venue in 1987 and was acquired by First Avenue in 2018. It holds 650 guests in the historic Consortium Building. A club dedicated to live music, its mainstays are indie rock, prog-rock, jazz, blues, funk, R&B, and world music, with a different live act featured every night, from up-and-coming local bands to national headliners. Bunker's Music Bar & Grill is a long-standing live music venue known for its intimate setting and its Sunday-night funk residency, often featuring Dr. Mambo's Combo. Bunker's, along with Acme Comedy Company and fixtures like J.D. Hoyt's, helped set the neighborhood's tone before the broader North Loop transformation took hold. Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins, hosts Major League Baseball throughout the season alongside occasional large-scale concerts and events. North Loop Green, a public space in the neighborhood, hosts free events including Twins watch parties and live music. Fulton Brewing Taproom and Inbound BrewCo round out the neighborhood's roster of brewery-based music spaces.
