A suburb in the Chicago area
Skokie's live-music options range from a small downtown café to one of the North Shore's major performing-arts complexes. Blue Kale Café & Lounge on Oakton Street schedules live music alongside trivia nights and community events, with a dedicated piano corner as part of its room setup. The café has hosted ticketed jazz nights in an intimate setting, pairing live performances with craft cocktails. Sketchbook Brewing Co also books live music, offering a casual taproom backdrop for local acts. North Shore Center for the Performing Arts is a two-theater complex with an 867-seat mainstage and a convertible 318-seat theater. The Center is home to Northlight Theatre, the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra, and Music of the Baroque. Recent and upcoming bookings have included GRAMMY-winning trumpeter Chris Botti, a tribute to Aretha Franklin, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. The village itself runs free outdoor concerts every Wednesday evening in summer on the Village Green in Downtown Skokie.
