Distillery District
The Distillery District grew out of the historic James E. Pepper Distillery site and today holds three working bourbon distilleries alongside a dense run of music venues on Manchester Street, just west of downtown. Manchester Music Hall occupies what was once a bourbon warehouse for Old Tarr Distillery and now serves as one of Lexington's premier live music and concert venues, drawing mid-level and legacy acts from all genres. The Burl, originally built in 1926 as a train depot, books local and national bands and relies on the original wood frame for its natural acoustics, with standing room for most shows and a full bar. The Break Room runs along Town Branch Creek, with a covered patio leading to an outdoor stage for live music. Lost Palm is an indoor-outdoor rooftop bar atop The Manchester Hotel with views of the Distillery District, hosting weekly live music programming alongside DJs and private cabanas. The Elkhorn Tavern, connected to Barrel House Distilling Co., operates as a cocktail lounge and taproom. Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co. hosts live music and seasonal events at its Town Branch Distillery, the only brewery and distillery on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
