East End

East End is one of Lexington's go-to areas for creative culture, and that identity runs through its live-music spots. Tee Dee's Lounge is the neighborhood's blues anchor, home base of Lexington legend Tee Dee Young, who has been performing here for over 30 years, often with guest artists. The lounge is open Monday nights only, with the show starting around 8 p.m. The Lyric Theatre and Cultural Arts Center anchors the community's creative scene, hosting concerts and shows. Programming includes events like the Winter Jazz, Blues and Soul Series and the Juneteenth Independence Day Celebration. The Lyric offers a seated listening experience featuring local and regional talent, with programming often suited for all ages. Charles Young Park hosts the free East End Evenings concert series on its Showmobile stage. Attendees bring lawn chairs and blankets for evenings of R&B, soul, funk, and dance music. The Isaac Burns Murphy Memorial Art Garden hosts "From the Front Porch," a free summer jazz series presented by Phoenix Rising Lex and Lexington Parks and Recreation, set on a public art landscape honoring Isaac Burns Murphy and Lucy Murphy at the site of their former home.
