University of Kentucky
The University of Kentucky neighborhood's live-music options run from campus institutions to bar stages along South Limestone. The Singletary Center for the Arts, situated on the UK campus, programs classical, jazz, and contemporary music, supporting both new and established artists. The Cats Den, inside the Gatton Student Center, mixes live concerts with open mic nights as part of its regular student programming. JamCats, a student music club, holds sessions in the Cats Den on the first Wednesday of each month, with admission free to students, staff, and faculty. Tin Roof, on the corner of South Limestone, books live music just about every night of the week and serves food through late night. It is part of a Nashville-born chain, though on a game day it takes on a decidedly local character. girlsgirlsgirls Burritos, at the corner of South Limestone and Avenue of Champions, mixes fresh food and a full bar with live music events and a dog-friendly patio. Karaoke runs every Thursday under the disco ball starting at 8 p.m., and the venue also hosts touring acts ranging from punk to indie.
