Hillsboro Village
Hillsboro Village sits between Vanderbilt and Belmont universities, and its live-music identity reflects that: the room sizes are intimate, the programming leans community-minded, and the crowds tend to be local rather than tourist-heavy. Anzie Blue, a 4,000-square-foot room directly across from the Belcourt Theatre, is Nashville's only woman-owned music venue and the neighborhood's most active live-music anchor. The venue leans toward songwriter nights and community programming. It has hosted events tied to Tin Pan South, the Americana Music Festival, and the Nashville Film Festival, among others. Artists ranging from Grace Bowers and Steve Earle to Joy Oladokun have performed there. The Belcourt Theatre first opened in 1925 as a silent film house and later served as an early stage for the Grand Ole Opry before evolving into a nonprofit film center. Today it is one of the best places in Nashville to catch independent films alongside occasional live performances. The Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University brings a steady calendar of student, faculty, and guest concerts to the neighborhood, while The Chloe Nashville rounds out the options for ticketed live events on Belcourt Avenue.
