SoBro
SoBro, short for South of Broadway, is known for things new: live music venues, major hotels, restaurants, and the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Just two blocks from Broadway's honky-tonk strip, SoBro carries a notably different character: that short distance brings a significant shift in atmosphere. 3rd and Lindsley, an independent room established in 1991, anchors the neighborhood's more serious music side, booking national, regional, and local artists across three decades. It runs "Finally Friday," a free live Americana radio show at noon on Fridays, and most Mondays the Texas swing band The Time Jumpers holds court. Capacity tops out at 700 for select shows. Ascend Amphitheater, opened in 2015, has become one of the country's better outdoor live music venues, with an open-air setting, views of the Nashville skyline and the Cumberland River, and a 6,800-person capacity. Country headliners, alt-rock, and comedy all rotate through its calendar. The Schermerhorn Symphony Center is home to the Grammy Award-winning Nashville Symphony and is regarded as one of the best acoustic rooms in the world. 6th and Peabody, anchored by Yee-Haw Brewery and Ole Smoky Moonshine, puts musicians on an outdoor stage when the weather holds. The neighborhood also holds a string of Broadway-adjacent honky-tonk bars, among them Honky Tonk Central, Lainey Wilson's Bell Bottoms Up, Luke's 32 Bridge, and Whiskey River Saloon, along with the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, which presents its own programming.
