Bloomington
A city in the Minneapolis & St. Paul area
Bloomington's live-music activity is concentrated in publicly run, outdoor and civic settings, and both of the city's listed venues reflect that character. Bloomington Center for the Arts occupies the north end of Bloomington Civic Plaza and houses eight resident arts organizations. The plaza itself is an active summer performance spot: the Midweek Music & Market series brings live music, a beer garden, and food trucks to the Civic Plaza east lot on Wednesday evenings throughout summer. The city's Arts in the Parks Sunday Funday series also closes out its run at Bloomington Civic Plaza. Hyland Hills Ski Area sits within Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington and is the primary downhill ski and snowboard destination in the Twin Cities metro. In the off-season it functions as an outdoor concert venue. From June through October, the hill hosts movies and concerts as part of its Events on the Hill series. Every Wednesday from June through early September, the patio runs happy hour with a rotating selection of beverages and live music. The hill has also drawn larger festivals: The Great Big Jamboree, a family-focused music and arts event produced by Homespun Events in collaboration with The Okee Dokee Brothers, made its debut at Hyland Hills in May 2026.
