Camden
A neighborhood in Minneapolis
Camden sits in Minneapolis's northwestern corner, with easy access to the Mississippi River. Its live-music options are modest in number but distinct in character. Pryes Brewing Company brews on the banks of the Mississippi and uses its grounds as a legitimate concert space. Shows happen in the Pryes Side Lot, an outdoor event space next to the taproom. The anchor event is an annual Block Party now in its ninth year: the two-day affair has featured Soul Asylum on Friday night and the Gear Daddies as Saturday's headliner, with local openers across both days. Pryes also ties into Art-A-Whirl each spring, programming local artists and live music across the weekend. The Camden Social, at 4601 Lyndale Ave N, takes a bar-and-dining-room approach to live music. Music weekends kick off every Thursday, with recurring bookings that include R&B XL on Friday nights. Patrons describe the atmosphere as drawing a mature crowd that takes the music seriously; the venue also has a cigarden patio section.
